Make Your Own Coffee Blend in Japan

You’ll find some of the world’s best coffee in Japan, and indie roasters are sneaking into the wall-to-wall Starbucks-like café scenery of Tokyo.

We teamed up with the top coffee roasters at THE COFFEESHOP to do the things we don’t know how to do like selecting the beans for our speciality coffee blend. You can find the baristas — entitled coffee geeks — selecting, roasting, and brewing coffee just eight minutes from the Shibuya station.

So, what exactly is speciality coffee? We asked Mr Sugawara, the roaster at THE COFFEESHOP in Shibuya:

  1. The highest quality beans roasted to maximise the flavours.
  2. It starts with the producer and follows through the entire supply chain.
  3. Only coffee beans free of defects are selected.

If you want evidence of pre-ground speciality coffee, look no further than the drip bag — an easy cup of coffee for aficionados who also travel a lot. You only need a mug and some hot water.

A musky, sweet smell fills the room — Indian dark roasted beans with hints of strawberry and almonds. Freddy’s home country, Nepal, inspires the theme for our signature blend. And it consists of a mix of eight different beans brewed to perfection.
